Local voices. Local issues. A shared commitment to our city's future.
Dear Friends and Neighbors,
I'm honored to share more than 20 local endorsements from City of Fairfax residents, community leaders, and former City elected officials who know our city and care deeply about its future.
Every endorsement comes from within our own city. No political parties, PACs, or outside jurisdictions are included.
You can read their endorsements and my full statement here:
Here are two examples of what former City officials and longtime residents have shared:
“Tom Peterson puts the City of Fairfax first. We are a small independent City and Tom will ensure that our needs come first by embracing City residents’ input and leading with our best interests in mind. His experience and expertise make him the best choice for Mayor.”
Daniel F. Drummond
Former Fairfax City Councilmember
“Over the past two years, I have gotten to know Tom through emails and in-person discussions. He has a wealth of experience with all of the factors that go into making a decision that affects a community, and he used those skills extremely well in working with several difficult decisions that came before the Mayor and the Council. I appreciate his responsiveness, listening and feedback on what he is hearing from residents. He understands that we are a unique, suburban city of neighborhoods with low tax rates and quality services ... the reasons that I moved here, and the reasons young families are drawn to our city. I hope Tom can continue his excellent service as our next Mayor!”
Steve Welke
Longtime Fairfax City resident
What Local Support Means to Me
As a City of Fairfax resident for 24 years and your current City Council Member, I value the relationships I've built with neighbors, community leaders, and people who have devoted years of service to our city.
I also value our shared commitment to understanding the needs of our Fairfax City community and working together to address them.
These are people who understand our neighborhoods, appreciate what makes Fairfax special, and recognize the challenges we face.
We share concerns about rising costs, development pressures, local businesses, schools, traffic and public safety, and protecting the neighborhoods, natural surroundings, and essential services that contribute to our quality of life.
Their endorsements reflect confidence in my public service and a shared interest in the future of our community.
Focused on the City of Fairfax
My commitment is to local issues and the needs of our community.
I believe our local elections should focus on the people who live here and the decisions that directly affect their lives.
As a City Council Member, I regularly work with officials throughout our region and state on transportation, energy, infrastructure, and other shared challenges. Those relationships are important to advancing our city's interests.
At the same time, my approach to local leadership is grounded in listening to Fairfax residents, understanding their concerns, and making independent, responsible decisions.
Ready to Lead on Day One
Serving on City Council has given me firsthand experience with the decisions facing Fairfax and the importance of understanding their consequences for our residents.
I bring that experience, 44 years of leadership in government, business, nonprofit organizations, and academia, and a deep personal commitment to the community I call home.
I'm grateful to the residents, community leaders, and former elected officials who have expressed confidence in my service.
The future of the City of Fairfax should be shaped by the people who call our city home.
Please Remember to Vote — and Get in Touch!
Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, and early voting is underway.
Please remember to cast your ballot. Your vote is critical to me and to our city, and I would be grateful for your support.
We also need volunteers at the polls and additional locations for yard signs during these final days. If you can help with either, please get in touch. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.
